Just read “LOSING OUR RELIGION”, by Russel Moore. 254 pages and two days to read. It is subtitled “AN ALTER CALL FOR EVANGELICAL AMERICA”.
Altogether it is a great read and very enlightening. Russell is very personable and a top notch communicator. To be honest, I did not understand all the religious labels he used to describe important points he unfolded for us.
I was able to identify with Russell about being an outcast for not being “good” with Donald Trump as president. To hear the personal accounts of verbal abuse from leaders he respected was hearbreaking and infuriating. They wanted Trump unity within the Southern Baptist organaizatin from him.
He would not “CAVE” to it ecause of all the repulsive, vulgar, and disgusting, ways the man behaves. I say a resounding “AMEN”
to that.
He speakes of Evangelicals having totally lost their authority, integrity, and witness.
He finally comes to the place where he believes it must be completely broken down to the ground to be rebuilt by God.
Glad to here the conviction of wanting to be right with God rather than to appease a religious institution and religious men. I say a resounding “AMEN” to that also.
He shows a way forward for us, and it leads
straight to Jesus. Only through rejecting all the traps of religious men who have “SOLD
OUT” (and not in a good way) do we find new life.
I am thankful Russell found a landing place with “CHRISTIANITY TODAY”. I appreciate his witness through his writing. I recommend you read this book and let it speak to your heart.
